During the year commemorating the 75th anniversary of Poland–Vietnam relations and the 55th anniversary of the University of Gdańsk, the University recorded significant progress in its cooperation with Southeast Asia. A key role in this development was played by the project „Applied Social Psychology in Intercultural Context” (ASPIC), implemented under the programme Strategic Partnerships of the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).

Between 30 October and 4 November 2025, the University of Gdańsk delegation took part in a series of events Edu&Science Meetings, organised by NAWA and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Hanoi. The delegation visited Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where numerous partnership meetings were held with local universities.

ASPIC is currently the largest humanities and psychology project implemented in Vietnam by a Polish academic institution.. Projekt budził duże zainteresowanie m.in. podczas Vietnam–Poland Higher Educational Forum na Uniwersytecie RMIT w Ho Chi Minh City oraz podczas roundtable uczelni wietnamskich i polskich w Hanoi, gdzie Assoc. Prof.Joanna Różycka-Tran, the principal investigator of the ASPIC project, presented its objectives and achievements to date.

Moreover, the delegation’s visit coincided with the European Higher Education Week (EHEW), organised by the EU Delegation in Vietnam in cooperation with Vietnamese ministries (the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Science and Technology). As one of nine Polish universities, the University of Gdańsk promoted European higher education during education fairs. The UG delegation also took part in the Horizon & Erasmus+ Day conference on 3 November in Hanoi, as well as in the celebrations of the National Independence Day of the Republic of Poland at the Polish Embassy in Hanoi, where they met with Vietnamese alumni of Polish universities.
