On November 28, 2024, a workshop for Vietnamese students was held in Hanoi. It was conducted by Adam Jagiełło-Rusiłowski, PhD, with the participation of prof. Joanna Różycka-Tran, prof. Paweł Jurek and Klaudia Bochniarz.
The workshop focused on contemporary best practices for engaging community members in action research aimed at supporting mental health as a cultural element rather than merely a medical service. Participants explored collaborative research methods, in which researchers work together with community members to identify problems, co-create solutions, and implement meaningful change. This process empowers communities to take active control of their own development. The session also included drama techniques used to explore selected participatory strategies in practice.
The workshop was made possible thanks to funding from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). As part of the project, a delegation from the University of Gdańsk was able to strengthen collaboration with two universities in Hanoi: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH VNU) and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS).
