From 25 to 28 August 2026, the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gdańsk hosted the Euro-Asian Scientific Congress on Mental Health. The event marked the culmination of the NAWA Strategic Partnerships project “Applied Social Psychology in Intercultural Context: Synergies between the University of Gdańsk and Vietnam” (ASPIC). The main theme of the congress was fostering intercultural dialogue and highlighting the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in psychological research.
The Congress brought together nearly 100 researchers representing institutions from Asia, Europe and North America. Over the course of four days, the programme included five workshops, seven lectures delivered by internationally renowned keynote speakers, 17 presentations held as part of thematic sessions, and two panel discussions. The poster session featured more than 30 research projects. The congress covered a wide range of topics, including perinatal and family psychology, gender psychology, the dark and light sides of spirituality, as well as research on human consciousness.
The opening ceremony of the Congress was attended by representatives of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University (USSH VNU), the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS), and the University of Gdańsk. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of the relationships established so far and expressed their willingness to further strengthen scientific cooperation between Poland and Vietnam.
The ASPIC project was successfully completed, with all planned activities carried out and numerous scientific papers published. One of its most important outcomes, however, was the development of lasting relationships between the project partners, which may provide a foundation for continued cooperation beyond the formal end of the project. Another important aspect of both the project and the congress was the dissemination of psychological knowledge and making it accessible to a broader audience. For this reason, participation in all congress events was free of charge and open to members of the general public as well.
